Here you go -  here's some links to hotels and stuff for those of you unfortunate enough to be wools

Just watch out with the city centre hotels, some of them whack their prices up when Liverpool are at home.

Was looking for a place to stay the day of the Derby in september (my anniversary) and one of the hotels I contacted had put their price up by £30 because 'Liverpool are at home this weekend.'

Excuse me love, but I'll think you'll find that technically Liverpool are involved in an AWAY fixture this weekend.  They took the £30 quid off!

You could always stay over the water; I think McAteers mum runs a B & B on the New Chester Road.

New owners won't be taking over until the New Year. Not sure about the ale prices, seems a big jump in price.

HOTEL prices in Liverpool rose 12% last year, the second highest rise in the country and just behind close neighbour Manchester which saw a 13% rise.

The new figures follow on from a report in September which revealed that occupancy rates in the city stood at 77.5%, beating both Manchester and Leeds.

Prices for hotel rooms in the North West cities increased as the region continued to benefit from business investment, travel management company Hogg Robinson Group (HRG) said. The average price for a hotel room in Liverpool is now £94.

HRG spokeswoman Margaret Bowler said: "We are likely to see Liverpool hotels continue to achieve good performance over the next couple of years as the city has been selected as the European Capital of Culture for 2008 and should continue to attract interest.

"New hotel openings, combined with significant refurbishment programmes for many existing hotels, will result in a better standard of hotel accommodation for the business traveller in the long term."

Last week, the Daily Post revealed that The Mersey Partnership was so concerned about there not being enough hotel beds available in 2008, it was asking people in the region to consider opening up their homes during the year.

One of Liverpool's best known hoteliers, Paul Feather of the Feathers Group, said Capital of Culture was having a positive impact on the city's hotel sector but warned against over-optimism about prospects beyond 2008.

He added: "There is a danger that we get taken in by all the hype and create demand artificially for 2008 rather than responding to genuine commercial demand.

"We may be able to fill the rooms during 2008 but if we create too many new ones for that year we could become a ghost town again the following year."

Rather than just Capital of Culture, Mr Feather added that key to future demand was the new conference centre at Kings Dock and

the return of big cruise liners. "In terms of occupancy levels, Liverpool is doing very well at weekends, but during the week I don't think demand is as strong as we would like it to be," he said.
