Agree that he's a special talent and love watching old video clips of him but I have to say not based on that video.

All that video shows is that he's good at keepy-ups and dances like a bird.

Surly you could have found a better one then that.

I'm an inch taller than him! so I love him.
Great balance, fantastic strength in legs and upper body.
Very Quick running with the ball, good with both feet, nothing he couldn't do with a ball.
One of the greatest of all time.

totally disagree. For me (being 41) he is the best player to have graced a football pitch, bar none.  He won the world cup in 1986 and the league titles at Napoli virtually on his own.

I have a great photo of him (I think it was a Times free offer about 15 years ago)  when he was playing for Argentian and there are 6 Belgium players surrounding him. Just illustrated what Immense player, I couldnt give a shit if he hand balled it-is that worse than some of Gerrard's dives for a pen ?

just wonder if Messi is actually up to the same level when we look back in a 15 years time, guess he needs to make the impact on a world stage first

Thats a short sighted view mate. Most genius's have flaws..Best (DRINK, Maradona (drugs), Zidane (the head but), Borg (drugs), Mcenroe (spell-alleged drugs) Jimmy Greaves etc etc

Comparing Zidane headbutting Materazzi to Maradona using cocaine and edriphine? Not an accurate comparison. I didn't say he wasn't a fantastic player, just when his name is mentioned I think of the scandals before the talent.

haha cant compare a headbutt to crack mate.  i know what you mean though, no doubting he was a class player, but like supersub has said with the younger generation we will always think of him first as a fat drug addict before his football, which is like i said a shame.  got no sympathy for people who waste so much talent though.

ok i'll give you that the headbutt -cocaine reference is not really a fair comparison ;-)

It is a shame that you  think of him as a drug addict first. I dont think Maradona wasted his talent though. Like I say, he single handed (excuse the obvious pun) won the 86 world cup, he got them to the 90 final, he won Serie A titles for unfashionable Napoli then the drugs started.

Its like, who was the best Braxilian ateam..most peole say the 1970 Brazil, but that ws before my time..instead for me it was Brazil 1982, they didnt win but bloody hell..Eder, Zico, Falcao, Socrates....unbelie vable
