The man is an absolute legend. He was always playing in local snooker clubs in Belfast, playing whoever wanted to play him for a few quid. They were basically paying for privilege of putting the balls back on the table and adding up his score as he still knew his way around a table. I last seen him in the City Hospital a few weeks ago, the poor man barely had the strength to open a door.

Rest in Peace Alex. The game of snooker has alot to thank you for.

Gutted he has died was a snooker hero of mine growing up. Brought snooker to the television masses and was the original genius, much more so than Jimmy White and Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Twattish  comment it maybe, but i was in the Midlands hotel in Mancheshter after some soldiers had been killed in Ireland and that cunt was loving it, him and his mate both bladdered sitting there off his head on coke. I have hated him ever since and that was back in the 80s.

Why is is that our most talented often end up like that and why is it that we seem to worship these types more than those who don't waste their lives like that? Not much sympathy from me for those who are blessed with that kind of talent and then throw it all away.
